1986 Porsche 911 Carrera targa replacing spark plugs

I'm having a very hard time removing the spark plugs from the passenger side. My shop retrofit the hoses for the A/C and I don't have any space to put the wench(already removed the driver-side spark plugs). My compressor has a leak and I don't have any gas in the system(A/C not blowing cold air). I'm thinking about removing the compressor from the car in order to reach the spak plugs...any advice? Thanks, Daniel

That's common for cars with A/C. You can unbolt the compressor from its mounting bracket and move it up and over onto the fender to give yourself room to work. Breaking the lines open not needed.

Yea, just put a couple layers of towels and a piece of cardboard on the fender. Unbolt the compressor slide it to the left, take off the fan belt, and lift it over to the fender. No need to mess with the hoses, they are flexible enough to allow the compressor to lay on the fender.

If you buy a service cover for working on the engine, it has a reinforced plastic area for the compressor. You need to move it to adjust the valves as well.

I did the towel thing and layed in on the intake. Clear shot. And take the air filter and cap off. Use the tool in the toolbox.

just be careful when pulling the spark plug leads to pull in a STRAIGHTUP angle...I seem to have twisted a bit left/right when pulling, and the lead broke (so had the spark plug cap still over the spark plug...)

I had to find a metal tube that just fit over the cap, put an enormous amount of glue on the inside of the tube, shoved it over the cap and let it dry for some time...then when
pulling straight up, I had the cap removed...makes you sweat...thinking you have to open up the engine for something 'stupid' as this...
