Porsche Crest Just Turned a Milestone

Driving home from Vancouver British Columbia last night, I reached a milestone with my SC by turning 100,000 miles. This particular drive on Interstate 5 is a picturesque one during daylight hours and a interesting jaunt at night. With a X-5 pacing me, we both got up to a buck and a quarter with more to spare in some areas of nicely paved highway at around midnight. The normal two and a half hour drive was reduced to hmmmm, well under two. I could drive a newer 993, but there is something so great about the earlier cars, the feel of the road and the roar of the exhaust. The 993 will simply have to wait.

I nkow the feeling. Driving back from LA to SF after buying my first P-Car, reaching similar speeds to you (just to see if it was road-worthy, of course) at midnight gave me a bit of pride and joy in driving a 19-year-old car that rides like these cars do. I could have used a bit more light, though. (BTW - at 178,000 miles, I look forward to turning 200k)

Congrats. My 930 has nearly 130,000 on the clock - and still running strong.

I've had quite a few other personal (non-Porsche) cars break the 100K barrier, most all of them were "...one wheel in the junkyard" already.

Your car looks brand new, should have a few more 100k to go. Lovely drive from Seattle to BC and back. But never did it in the Porsche, got to ditch the kids and just bring the wife one of these days.

Harlan,
Just turned 200K on my 77911S. I live in Mount Vernon. You passed thru it on your way to and back from B.C. Have you tried Chuckanut Drive? A good detour for you on your next trip to B.C.

Chuckanut Drive is a great detour but can get pretty congested at times. I stop in Mount Vernon and Burlington at Costco for last minute bottles of wine and gifts for friends in B.C.

Congratulations Harlan.
I can relate to your feelings. This past weekend I;
1) Picked up my car from John Walker after having the tranny rebuilt, oil leak fixed and CV joints redone among other things
2) Had a great drive to Bellingham and back. Made "freeway entry to exit" in 55 minutes coming home
3) Feel like I have a new car

Did not do Chuckanut either direction for the reasons listed.

My odo turned 210,000 this morning. And the setting could not have been better. I live in Paradise. Most of the parks in this world are less beautiful than the sides of the roads here. You'd have to go to the Amazon River basin to find more green. And right now, as the Rhododendron's are blooming, I don,t think you can find more color anywhere. Not anywhere. Weather was upper '70's yesterday and sunny.

148,000 here, and still going strong. At 100,000, you can consider your car properly broken-in. Happy motoring!
