Not enough clutch cable travel => Tips? Risk?
Hi all,
I have replaced my clutch, flywheel, release bearing, shift fork, clutch cable,... on my SC 1978. After adjusting the clutch all seems fine (1.2 => 1mm at release lever, pedal feels good,...) but I'm unable to attain 25mm of clutch cable travel. I have adjusted the rubber stop to the max position but I'm only getting 23,5mm. Any tips on how to get to 25mm? What is the risk of driving with considering the clutch does not slip? Premature wear on the clutch release bearing or anything else? Thanks |

You might not be able to get to 25mm. These old cars are no longer in spec. Take out the free play at the clutch release (meaning adjust out the gap). Also a new clutch needs to wear in a bit to drive well.

Setting Up Clutch Cable Adjustment…….
Did you try to do the cable adjustment at the clevis end? How many mm is the nut from the tip of the cable at clevis end (clutch pedal end)? Could you post some pictures? Thanks.

Free play is gone, clutch works well.
Does the thread at clevis end influence the cable travel? I thought it only influenced the free play at clutch arm ... |
