1985 911 Tail light lenses

I have a cracked tail light lens. There are few different brands to choose from.

1. anyone here any preferred brand here?

2. should I replace both - will 1 new lens look odd?

Thanks
AO

I tried to replace just one with a non OEM new one. It was not at all the same as the old one. I sent it back to Pelican, and got the expensive OEM Porsche part. Only I ever notice the very slight difference. I don't do judged concours car shows, and no one notices the very slight difference.

If you want to replace just one, get the Porsche brand one.

thanks so much. Kinda what I expected. I'll get 1 and if I think it looks weird I'll replace the other as well.

I bought 2 URO. Never noticed a difference and happy with them. If going with one, I’d follow advice above.

I am happy with the lenses John Audette has sourced (https://911bestinclass.com/collections/ac-highly-recommended/products/lwb-1969-1973-front-turn-signal-taillight-lenses).

These are fairly inexpensive to begin with, but John frequently runs sales for additional bank account relief.

You can see the heat warp in the old lens, causing stress failure at the screw boss.

Replacing just one lens never looks right unless they are somewhat close in age and the same brand. I have this situation on the front and can see the slightly different orange color of the newer lens

I just bought the Porsche rear lenses because I didn’t like the non oem’s fit I had with a set I bought a few years back

Unfortunately the new Porsche left lens had a flaw so I ordered another left lens. 2nd one came with the same flaw- in the black edge trim. These are $187 each. The first one with a flaw cracked at a screw hole upon very careful installation. The right lens was fine. Quite upset with this expensive adventure. Good luck.

This is also my experience. Just recently replaced mine. Sourced mine thru AASE.

I have a set of never installed euro version URO lenses that came with a bulk purchase I made from a fellow Pelicanite in the for sale section of the forum.

They are in the original plastic bags inside their original boxes. If you’re interested I’ll send you some pictures. Since they were part of a package purchase I’m sure we can come to an agreement on a price for the pair.
