Repair front seat rail mounts

Hi,
I have a 1976 930 and it looks like the floor pan seat mounts have been cut out to mount the seats a bit lower in the past:

I believe they should look like this, with the scalloped metal mounting piece:

Assuming I'm correct, where can I get that scalloped replacement piece? It doesn't seem to be anything anyone (Dansk et al) sells? And looks like it's welded on?

Thanks!
Scott

Is this a right hand drive car? Lowering the passenger seat would be far less likely than the driver's seat. The whole setup (the two slotted grooves, with a larger hole at an end) looks aftermarket. I can't see why Porsche would have put a different seat mounting system into its early Turbo (or later ones, for that matter).

Is it a stock appearing seat, with the usual slider and lever attached?

Thanks Walt. Yes you are correct, it's a 76 RHD Turbo. Yes I think the current solution is aftermarket. It currently has aftermarket seats bolted in.

I'm looking to go back to stock, but just not sure where to source this particular panel from. It doesn't look like it comes with any of the floor pan panels, or anything else? LWB cars did have a bolted in panel here which is not dissimilar, but 74+ looks to be a welded panel? If so, where can I buy the panel?

********** has seat rails. Get ready for some sticker shock as the left and right rail for each seat is different. Only one has the lever adjustment.

edit: Lovely - our sponsor does not have these but they won't allow posting who does have them...

google is your friend. try 94452149100 and 92852148902 to get close for starters....

Is your objective to raise the seat back to stock height? Or do you just want to bring it back to stock appearance? If you simply want to raise the seat, you could fabricate a spacer (maybe out of square tubing?) which would sit on top of those seat support rails, and thru which longer seat bolts would pass, and use the existing holes.

If it is important to restore this to stock, I'd go to my local junk yard and see if they could cut the seat base pieces (shown in your 2d picture) off for you. You could then weld (or have welded) them into place. Both driver and passenger sides, I imagine.

Porsche shows these parts in its parts catalog from back then, but not as separate parts. They are part of the drawing of the entire side frame rail. But not as part of the center tunnel stamping. You might check with the manufacturers of aftermarket body parts, but since these seat attachment pieces are not apt to be damaged and need replacement separately, there wouldn't be much of a market.

Might be more straightforward to have a shop fabricate mounts for the seat and sliding track you choose. Double locking tracks are a good thing. In a rear end collision, the seat and its mounting are what protect you, not the seat belts. You might be able to find a slider system ready with mounts underneath which can be welded to the floor pan, with the seat of your choice then attached to it.

Thank you Walt, this is exactly what I wanted to know (but not hear ). Shame they are not sold separately as they are clearly welded on later, but I get that they are an unusual thing to replace in isolation.

I am looking to go back to stock, so I think sourcing or fabricating factory style mounts will be the best bet for me.
