Ti Lug Nut Non-Marring Socket?
What socket are people using to install titanium lug nuts without marring the finish?
I saw the Stoddard socket but read it causes damage. I also saw where people used an internally nylon / delrin lined socket but those appear to be unavailable anymore. I’d like to find an internally nylon lined 19mm socket unless there’s some other option I’m not aware of. Thanks in advance for the help. Stretch |

There are cheaper ones out there but Wera is a good German brand. I have a full set of Wera lug nut sockets and am very pleased with them. Only use with hand tools. Air tools will destroy the plastic.
https://www.kctool.com/wera-004590-lug-nut-1-2-impact-socket-with-plastic-sleeve-19mm/ Google search for 19mm sockets. Whatever you choose, read the description to ensure that the socket has an internal protective insert as well as the protective outer sleeve. Some just have the external sleeve. https://www.google.com/search?q=plastic+coated+19+mm+lug+nut+sockets&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1 Last edited by ChrisHamilton; 09-07-2022 at 04:41 PM.. |

I’ve been using the Hazet on mine and haven’t had any issues over the last 5 years. Most important is to take your time when sliding the socket on the lug.

Thanks for the leads. The Wera is out of stock as a single 19mm everywhere I’ve looked but I’ll keep looking. The “Sof-tite” option is also an older tool so I’ll do some research and see if I can find one.

Aluminum socket here. No problems / marring with multiple on / offs with several sets of black Ti open end lugs.
