jack pad tool substitute?
My jack pad tool, along with the tool kit, jack and damn near everything else, was long gone when I got the car. Is there any substitute for the original jack pad tool or bar or whatever you call it?

The car doesn't come with the jack pad tool. That's something that you have to buy separately. The jack has a thing that fits into the jack receptacle that is not a separate part.

All you need is a floor jack, jack stands, a block of wood to go in the lifting cup of the floor jack and a short piece of wood to span across the front member to lift against. See:

Jim Sims, you are quickly becoming my new best friend. (Oops, come to think of it, I have no friends since I bought this car and the marriage is on the rocks, too. Even the dog hates me.)
Thanks again. I'll let you know how I make out (with the car). Cheers.

See the images in the below thread; the yellow colored member with the big rust hole is the tank support and is the part one should put a board across (left to right) and then jack against the board. Hopefully your tank support isn't rusted out like the one in the images. If it is, don't jack on it. Take care where you place the board so that you are not jacking on the gas tank nor on an A/C condensor if you have one up front. Remember not to get under the car until you have it supported on jack stands. Leave you car in gear and apply the parking brake while jacking. Wheel chocks are good if you have them. Jim
