Brake Switch Adjustment

Interesting morning having my car go through State inspection! Among other problems, they didn't know how to open the engine compartment, wanted to add oil while the car was cold and turned off (hand brake was on), etc, etc. You get the idea.

In any case, I really need to adjust my foot brake switch so the brake lights come on sooner. A quick look through Wayne's 101 Projects book was not much help. Will it be pretty obvious how to adjust the switch when I get into the pedal cluster?

Cool

the switch is triggered by the switches on the master cyl.. do a search on this one.. some guys recommend changing both switches and crossing your fingers...........Ron

I think on the earlier cars, the switch was activated by pedal movement.

Boosted brakes got the master cylinder switches ... earlier cars have the pedal switch. Rebuild of the pedal cluster might be a good idea if there is excessive play at the brake switch.
