I blew up a 924 at 220 kph trying to chase down an Opel Ascona. It's nice to have a real Porsche, even if I can't drive 130 mph anymore.

Why do you feel that you have to apologize for driving at highspeed on the autobahn where it is perfectly legal?
Ha Ha...the disclaimer is simply to let the person viewing the post of it's content and allowing them to press on if it's of the nature that pisses them off...but really who cares! :D

I would guess that with a couple hundred more rpm and at redline the car would hit 165...but I am satisified with just 150+.

Eric, Bro the car was actually pretty stable and I didn't have white knuckles so all in all a good run...with that said, I would not want to perform any kind of turn or anything that required handling at that speed!

It's great hearing others tell of the same thing...the pure speed was enough to make me smile for days!:D

The perspective of a cop seizing my drivers license scares me more than the speed itself. Actually, this perspective even wastes the euphoria that speed gives. I did not go over 120 mph, and it is not the space that made me back up, it is the stressfull sensation of doing something illegal. I miss the times and the country where speed repression was lighter, if not unexistent. It should not be a crime to do 120 or 130 mph, conditions permitting. After all, morons can have guns, is that not more dangerous ? I have always been dreaming of a high speed drivers licence, because the average speed limit is for the average person, and me and my 911 are not average...
Also, I have noticed how dangerous it is when people who are not used to drive fast do it. Because they never had a chance to feel their car at high speed.
Maybe I simply wish I were really free.

Jesus, I got my '87 back in July of last year and don't think I've even busted 100mph. I want to drive back to Nebraska this summe to visit my father. There are lots of lonely stretches of highway back there.

145 mph on Wednesday, just South of Fairmount Hot Springs.

fastest I've ever driven in my 85' is about 135mph+ , here in Hong Kong, the speed limit is tough, not much highways that enable you to blast the car full potential....

I've done 150.3 mph in the California Desert in my 930. I didn't look at the speedo, that was the speed logged on my hand-held GPS! The car was still pulling strongly, but there was an overpass coming up, and I was fearful of "observers" hiding on the backside.

Got just over 145 (indicated) on a long, clear, empty straight stretch on a Midwestern trip a year ago. That's a new high for me as I've always taken my cars/bikes up to top speed once or twice and this is the fastest I've yet been. It was easier when I lived in San Diego and could head out to Borrego springs and the empty desert roads.

On empty roads where you're only endangering yourself, no apologies should be necessary to anyone. Even some police get this. I once got a warning for 105 on a Yamaha FZ600 by a CHP officer outside Lompoc on an empty road.

I got my Carrera to 140 in the People's Republic of NJ two weeks ago - long, straight, flat, empty road (Rt. 72) in the Pine Barrens.
