Hi,
After an exuberant PCA track day, the alternator on my '75 911s bit the dust. Thanks to the 101 Projects book and this forum, I've removed it and am now looking to rebuild / replace it. After searching the forum, it seems like a good rebuild is the way to go to avoid fitment problems / properly matching the regulator. Does anyone have any shops to recommend in the Seattle, WA area to recommend? The alternator is an S.E.V. Marchal unit, #712 330 02. Any further thoughts on rebuilding this unit, replacing it with a new updated (integrated regular) unit, or replacing it with a rebuild unit of the same make? Thanks very much for any advice. This forum is a gold mine. Cheers, -Robert '75 911s Targa, Family Owned since New |

Thanks for the replies, guys!
I've called Acme, they were familiar with my alternator, and I'm planning on taking it in on Thursday. Funny, they also warned me not to bring it in if it's still in the fan housing... Cheers, -Robert |

It's September 2022 and I stopped by Acme. They don't rebuild alternators any more because "there's no money in it any longer". Too bad, though they were kind and friendly.

Last I heard, "Chainsaw Bob" at Chain Saws Plus at 8516 Bothell Way was still rebuilding them. I know, I know - kinda weird that a chain saw shop rebuilds Porsche alternators. Bob, however, also ran Precision Auto Electric right next door. That building is closed and boarded up, but the chain saw shop is still open, and I believe Bob still runs it. Worth calling, anyway. 425-486-2332
