SSI extra tube 78-79 only
What is extra tube on the output end of Early 3.0 SSIs? Auxiliary heat to … something? Appears it is only on the 78-79 thin flange models.

Thanks John! I guess I'll grind the welds and remove. I'm switching from CIS to one of Al's ITB setups. I am gonna pay a weld shop to TIG an 02 exhaust bung on, so I suppose, if I save a patch piece from the removed 304 tube, he (or she) could patch the hole shut, while at it.

Cut the welds and removed the tube. Made cuts in the protruding flange and pounded it flat.
 Finished by cutting and reshaping a piece of the removed tube, and pop riveting it over the hole.

I chose the dansk sport 2 in 2 out. From what I’ve read here, it is supposed to be pretty good, as far as not droning too bad.
