A/C Delete Question
Team 911,
I am planning on deleting my A/C system. When removing the hoses, does anyone has info for best way to plug the holes through the body? Are there factory rubber hole plugs or any advise on what others have done? Thank you, |

I used the silver metal duct tape on both sides of the larger holes. For the screw holes along the hose path I used the original screws but ran them through roofing screw washers (the ones with metal backed by rubber).

I had deleted my dealer installed AC (‘77) and used Flex Seal brand tape patch cut oversized to fill the 3”x4” hole (patched both sides) in the R ft. fender that was cut for the hoses to enter the smugglers box, and an exterior gutter caulk for the sheet metal screw holes. Now I’m contemplating sealing the large hole in the R.footwell (8”x11”) condenser either by screwing/riveting a sheet metal overlay panel or having a body shop weld new metal.
The screws SpyderMike is referring to are galvanized, metal roof (pole barn) screws. Here’s a pic of a #12, 3/4” pole barn screw. A bit thicker than the standard #6 or #8 1/4” sheet metal screw (rusted) that was used originally to attach the brackets on my AC hoses. Pic of the ft. R fender well screw holes (3) left from dryer unit removed, the patch for large opening too. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yes, I removed the washers from the roofing screws and used them with the original AC screws I removed.
