Idle Surdging My friend has a 83 3.0 Targa with a fresh rebuild by Tony Miller. Tony bought out Gary Wiggellsworth, Translog in York Pa. He has 1000 miles on it and when it warms up, the idle surdges from 600rpm's to 1200rpm's. When he drives it, it runs fine when he's on the throttle. Any thoughts? |

Probably way too rich on the idle mixture adjustment. |

as John said..also do not forget the engine need 1000 miles check up after the rebuild....looks like it is due... Ivan |

It's FI. What do you adjust? He's not a mechanic and I have 2 911's that have Webers. I don't know anything about FI cars. Thanks!! |

Maybe so a search for CIS mixture adjustment, right here on this forum. 3mm LONG allen wrench down a little hole between the fuel distributor and intake boot. Hard to see, sometimes you have to drag the allen wrench in the gap to find the hole. Engage the adjuster and turn a very small amount counter-clockwise when it's running until it smooths out. Ballpark backyard fix. |

 Clarification........ Quote:
Could you be more specific what kind of fuel injection system do you on the motor? Is it a CIS or something else? Thanks. Tony |

 Stock, I'm guessing CIS. |
