Am I looking at Triangle of Death oil leaks?

Smelled something "hot" while driving the '81 911SC today (approx 30 miles, in mild 70 degree temps). I couldn't find anything wrong until I pulled over and noticed smoke coming from the back of the car... underneath I saw smoke coming from the R side Heat Exchanger. I have uploaded a short video on youtube

https://youtu.be/9WX-FpaL25A

I have not been able to take a look at the top of the engine yet, but I *assume* I have a leak at the Triangle of Death. I converted from K Jet to the Bitz EFI system so at least I won't have all the CIS components to deal with.

I will look at the top of the front, right side of the engine with an iphone, mirror, endoscope and whatever else I can think of to find the leak(s).

Can get to the Triangle without doing a partial engine drop? My engine bay is relatively uncluttered since I deleted the a/c, heater blower, and did the "clean install" version of the Bitz EFI.

not sure if my photo uploaded or not, but my engine bay looks similar to this EFI conversion

Likely the TOD.

Had a similar leak. Turned out to be a failing oil cooler.

Inspect the TOD.

Clean area with solvent and see if it returns.

Any chance you over filled the oil? The oil tank breather tube is in that location.

Thanks guys -- Harry, I hope it's not the cooler, I will inspect TOD and see what it looks like and clean it up if needed.

Also I do not think I overfilled the oil. I only check the oil when engine is warm enough to open the thermostat and on level ground, idling. I generally find the closer I keep the level to the "Min" mark on the dipstick, the less oil the engine uses.

Looks like an oil cooler leak to me as well.

Not sure why you’d hope it wasn’t; in Porsche parlance that’s a cheap and easy part to replace. Basically best case scenario for a leak that size.
