930 engine placement/position

Ok, I tried a search and surprisingly didn't come up with anything here. So, the engine was moved back (1.5"?) in the 78-79 930's to make room for the thicker bellhousing and rubber style clutch. Did the engine stay positioned back this extra distance until the 996? What was the outcome to the G50/50 in 89? I imagine that it was compensated by the 993, but what about the 964 turbos?

I could not come up with this info in any of my books. Thanks for your time.

Luke

78-89 930's had engine further back. Dunno about 964's...

A hint is to check which car has rubber clutch.
