Ok, I'm installing this Mocal oil cooler which I got yesterday. I took out the old horns to ensure I have room, I get everything set and...hmmm...should the top oil line be kinked like this? This oil line must be an inch too long (IMO). Is there something I'm missing here or did they send me the wrong length? Or is this kinking ok? I cant imagine that this is right.
grrrr...I'll probably have to wait a few more days for a new hose ![]()

My Mocal attaches to the back of the headlight bucket with one screw if I remember right. I notice that yours doesn't. Interesting. I'm not sure what the deal is with your installation, but I can also add that I had some issues with mine. The lower mounting bracket for the cooler wouldn't allow enough clearance for the lower hose fitting. I had to make a spacer to fit it.
I would do everything in my power to avoid kinking that hose. Mike

See thread by DougE on the same topic. They have a solution.

Jeez, I remember this photo from ages ago. Are you still trying to resolve this hose thing? From the picture posted my suggestion would be to have a 120 deg. fitting put on instead of that red 90 thats there. Any competent hydraulic house couldm do it while you wait.

Sure
Search Mocal then look for: Help-in garage and can't mount cooler. Jim

Matt -
If you can't find my thread pm me and I'll walk you through it. Before bending the hard line, though, I'd suggest you re-route the hoses so that the long one goes behind the top elbow and then onto the top hard line while the short one goes to the lower hard line. Doing that ought to give you a straighter hose b/c you certainly don't want any kinks. I can send you some pics of mine if you need them. BTW, is that the 19 row cooler because the top mounting is different then mine was?

This is the second "plus" cooler. It's the one with 30% more capacity than their littlest one. I had not finished mounting it as you can see the crooked bolt at the top just holding it in place. It's not even fully seated in its place and the kinks are crazy. I did spend a little while just looking at the thing and figured out that I could swap the tubes and it fits ok...no kinks. But I did not want to make a hole in the back of my headlight for the top mounting. And with the bracket there not being used, I did secure it with that and did not use the top bracket that they sent. We'll have to see how it holds up and if it's not secure enough, I'll put it on.
Did you put a stone guard on yours? I asked the guys who sold it to me and they said that they never heard of anybody putting on a stone guard on theirs ![]()
