a real quicky, PLEASE

Going to be parking the 911 in airport long term parking for a few days. To discourage theft (although only a bit, I know) do I have to remove both battery terminals or can I just remove the negative one?
Thanks,

Ps - should you see a platinum Carrera in the parking lot, give it a smile and make sure no one is messing with it:)

fogcity 05-30-2003 10:29 PM

anybody up?

TYPE 901/05 05-30-2003 10:41 PM

put a wire in your pocket

pull the distributors coil wire, take it with you, and have a good trip. SmileWavy

Just don't forget to plug it back in when you get back.

Shawn.

You can just pull one (negative wire). This will also prevent the battery from trickle discharge.

But, if you take the coil wire, they won't be able to simply re-attach the battery...(and, most likely, they won't have a spare).

Personally, I'd do both if you are worried.

TYPE 901/05 05-30-2003 11:11 PM

if one is good...than two is better...

Emission has Established your (E) mission. Please do not put the coil wire in your pocket as I mentioned before.

Airport security and all.

Two pelican heads are better than one.:)

Shawn.:p

Cool, thanks. Hey, where do I find my coil wire?

I hope you smarties are still up

fogcity 05-30-2003 11:37 PM

Shawn, Emission: you guys still there?

DJB 05-30-2003 11:41 PM

It goes from the centre of your distributor to the coil.

TYPE 901/05 05-30-2003 11:43 PM

Oh noooo...

I am an early car guy. Mine has six going to to the engine's spark plugs and one going up and to the left...to a blue thing about the size of a 10oz can of juice...it's blue and has BOSCH written on it. Your in a....what SC...should be similar, the coil could be on the fan shroud though. Look for the one distributor wire that begins at the center and runs away from the rest of the spark plug wires. Later car guys...Help!!

Shawn.

fogcity 05-30-2003 11:44 PM

I think I can figure it out from here. Thanks, guys.

It has the yellow arrow aimed at it.

Have a safe trip!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/Coil Wire.jpg

Or you could remove the DME relay from under the drivers seat....

TYPE 901/05 05-31-2003 12:19 AM

or...

1.) leave it at home.

2.) let your friend/family member drive it back home(and have loads of fun while your gone)

3.) flatten the tires and punch a hole in the fuel cell!:D

Shawn.

andyu911 05-31-2003 12:26 AM

How about the fuel pump relay?

TYPE 901/05 05-31-2003 01:57 AM

what do you guys do down there...

drive your p cars year round? Wow...I want to move there. Could I make a living down there if I bring my snow plow trucks and set up?

I wanna go to a restaurant and hang with super models, rock legends, and movie stars.

I guess I am an out cast. Park it at home doesn't work on this board. I will go back to my local northern lights watch and seal hunt board.

Shawn.:D

Cool... Platinum colored 911 Carrera at the San Francisco airport left unattended.

Checklist...

1. Check battery connections
2. Bring distributor wire
3. Check DME relay (bring spare just in case)

Cool! Free 911. Woohooo! We're on our way.

Just kidding! Have a safe trip.

Regards,

Use an old trick my Dad used to do to keep customers from taking their cars home without paying using a second set of keys.

Pop off the distributer cap, remove the rotor, replace the cap.

(He used to do the same to me to keep me from borrowing our old beetle. I got wise and bought a spare rotor :-) )
