Ignitor Electronic Ignition

Anybody have any experiance with the Pertronox Ignitor® Electronic Ignition sysyem. The claims sound pretty good for a $65.00 part.

They have been around for years. I think they have an ignition set up for every car in existence that ran on points. I know lots of British Car guys that run the Pertronix system with no complaints. Some of the guys on this board do also. I think they exaggerate their claims, but most manufacturer's do. I probably would not buy their coil as I think the Bosch Blue Coil is superior. Personally I have never had a problem with a points ignition and continue to run points on my '58 Sprite, '72 MGB and, when I owned it, '72 911.

i posted before on this but try again. after you connect the msd install the pertronix. the red wire on the pertronix goes to the #2 fuse block in the engine compartment fuse holder. i used a heat shrinkable connector to extend the wire for this.

the black wire on the pertonix goes to the wires that are presently connected to the points. do not connect to the coil...do not connect to the coil.

i think that there are presently 3 wires that connect to the points. use a heat shrink connector to splice to the black wire on the pertonix to these 3 wires. it is very simple.

my msd was installed by the previous owner so i cannot help with that.

just remember that the pertonix needs power to run hence the red wire and it sends a trigger signal to the msd and the tach via the black wire.

the pertronix does not connect to the coil directly.
