1986 911 Carrera headlight switch

Hey guy's Have an issue with my 86' headlight switch wiring. I've checked out the previous posts and pic's. The Bently manual does have a lot to be desired. Thanks to Targa 911 for the breakdown of the wire coding. Does anyone have a pic of their switch handy? Many thanks

I had an issue with my switch wiring after I bought my 1987 car. I thought it was a bad switch, which it was, but a PO had changed the wiring to get the headlights to work, but they didn't work exactly as they were supposed to. Sorry, no pic of the attached wires on the switch.

Anyway, when I got my new switch I had to figure out the wiring to see what the cock-up was. This thread covers that, but perhaps more importantly, I did up a matrix of what the terminals on the switch are supposed to do. If you are able to do some experimentation, this might help out.

Headlights not working properly?

There are 3 wire harnesses that feed into the headlight switch.

I wrote down all the connections, in case someone ever mixes something up.
Below, each wire color is listed alongside the headlight switch terminal number it plugs into.
This is from a '86 coupe

White/black -> 56 (White is the main wire color, black is the stripe color)
Grey/black -> 58L (inside)

Red/white -> 75

Plug Prong harness
Grey/black -> 58L (outside)
Grey/red -> 58R (outside)
Grey solid -> 58 (between 56 & 30)
Grey/white -> N
White/green -> 57
