Clutch troubles part 2 (new symptoms)
UPDATE:
So tonight started with some disappointment. Took car off jacks. Engine off, everything shifts fine. Engine on, everything grinds again. Decide to start the car in gear. Car starts, it rolls, drive the car around for a while, car warms up, pull it back into neutral. Try going into gear, 1 and R grind still. While driving the car around, tried to clutch in to see if it stops moving, car kept rolling happily. Possibly something with the clutch plate and fly wheel being stuck / shift bushings / lord knows what. The clutch cable should be properly adjusted since I did it (so I think) to factory spec. What would make the car go in gear while off, and not go into gear while running? All advice appreciated! |

Sounds like clutch fork adjustment , or something is broken.
It goes into gear engine off because nothing is spinning Engine running and everything is spinning The clutch function is to stop all the spinning , disconnecting the engine from the input shaft of the trans and therefore stop it from spinning

Ok never mind. I had a similar symptoms with a G50 that turned out to be hydraulic, but obviously that doesn't apply here.

Your clutch is not fully disengaged from the flywheel. That is the only reason it grinds. What was done in Part 1 of the episode?

you should consider the possibility of a broken fork that
engages the throwout bearing. One side of the fork cracks and leads to all manner of clutch adjustment issues. such as an inability to Keep the clutch adjusted it seems like every time you touch it the adjustment has changed. Scratched my head a long time on that one "81SC" Give it a search |
