Timing for first start after rebuild
Hi folks,
About ready to start up my rebuilt '77. I am trying to determine the timing I should be looking for at idle. I won't be able to check the total advance timing until I can hit the higher 6,000 rpm revs after breaking the engine in. Specs for the rebuild are: 2.8L using JE 9.5 compression pistons MSD box w/MSD Blaster Coil Pertronix Ignitor in dizzy Cam reground to "E" profile PMO 40 carbs The original "E" cars called for 5 degrees ATDC at 900 rpm. The stock 1977 2.7 engine with CIS called for TDC +/- 2 degrees. What would you recommend given my mods for a starting idle timing? ![]()

It may end up at +5 or more, depending what you decide for total advance.
