Partial engine drop?

I to get in and remove the CIS system [to tight] ive herd talk about lowering the engine down but not fully removing it. Whats involved and whats not? do you need to separate the engine from the trans. Anyone had the pleasure of doing the partial engine drop?

Just did one last weekend. Be sure to disconnect the shift linkage in the rear seat area or you WILL do damage. That's all I disconnected. Also double check that your harness wires have enough free play, fuel lines won't snag, etc.

I put my big lifting table below the fan side of the engine with a phonebook for a cushion, unbolted the motor mounts, and dropped the engine about 6 inches. It only took around 20 minutes to lower the whole thing.
