Substitute M10 10.3 button head for M10 8.8 hex head?
I’m redoing fuel lines and replacing my pump with a pump up forward.
The fuel line route with the most fluid path is through the bracket for the cross member. As you can see in the picture, the hose could end up rubbing on the bolt head that’s holding the cross member. A button head socket head bolt would eliminate the sharp corners of the bolt head. It appears that M10 10.3 button head cap screws are readily available. Can I safely replace the M10 8.8 bolt with an M10 10.3 button head? |
No picture!
Other than esthetics I doubt it matters. But it will infuriate the P gods and most likely they will cause the car to self destruct.:rolleyes::):) |

I doubt id even worry about that.

Why not run the hose outside of the clamp? Zip tie into place.
|
Not sure I'd worry about rubbing on a bolt like that, but if concerned, I agree a zip tie would fix that.
|
Shouldn’t be an issue switching the bolts as you mentioned
|
Put an Adel clamp under that bolt and then run the hose through the clamp. That will keep it from rubbing on the bolt head or anything nearby. And it will look like the factory intended to do it that way.

The button head bolt leaves no sharp corners. I like the idea of adding a clamp. I’ll add that too.
