Sanden 507 compressor

Hi everyone. Can somebody let me know if a sanden 507 compressor can be fitted to a 3.0 liter sc motor with 40mm PMO carbs with some fabrication or is there just not enough room for clearance with carbs.
Thanks

507 installed on 73T with webbers, short stacks, and low profile filters

Hey thanks for posting a photo. Do you know if a 507 works properly if driven off the smaller 3.0 sc AC drive pully or does compressor lose efficiency due to lack of rpm ?

The compressor does not loose efficiency when run at lower rpms.
It simply supplies less flow, such as at idle.

This 73t with webbers never had AC. We used it as a prototype
to determine what what worked best.
We bolted on a 2 groove factory 'ac pulley' we found used from salvage.

Running a rear deck lid condenser, two Kuehl fender condensers in the LH rear fender,
Kuehl serpentine evap, R134a, it had no problem blowing cold air at 550 rpm idle or at high rpm. Naturally, if you let any 911 sit in the sun and get heat soaked, when you first start up it takes time pull out the heat idling. So you let mother nature do the first cool down step (windows open ac off and drive) and the you let the AC system do what it has to do.

Same situation held for the Cayenne diesel that lost its fight against a buck last month, and the GV70 3.5 that took its place.

Is there any particular reason why a shorter compressor like the Sanden 505 would not be an option? It'd free up some space?

The 507 is close to cyl 4 webber body but does not touch or create issues.

The 505 is, as I recall, is 20% less in pump volume per cycle or per rev.

Dimensionally you are not reducing the overall length by 20%.

I'd estimate the distance between the outside of the mounting ears is
9 mm or *.254 = .354". Clutch and rear head are same size on both.
Hence, not worth giving up 20% of pumping volume unless looking
at those shiny ITB's at the Sunday Bagel meet are more important to you.

Or, if is the "weight thing" then race with half a tank, leave the spare in the pits,
forget about eating those Christmas cookies.
