Where to buy sheet metal?

I need some sheet metal to mod my belly pan.

Where would I start to look for this? I’m thinking 16 or 18ga.

You can try MetalSupermarket (if they’re in your area) for new steel sheet cut to size. If your mod will require bending and cuts of course this becomes more searching.
What I wanted to do is learn sheet metal welding, friend had a body shop that always saved some scrap panels for patching. Sheet metal shops or hvac shops are plenty resourceful too for cuts and bends.
For just welding, check a local body shop and ask to rummage for some scrap, which they also save steel for metal scrappers to recycle, or even a junkyard…bring along some cash, an 18v 4” grinder w/cutoff wheel and some eye protection.

Go to a metal supply house in your area they might be able,to sell you a half sheet or have drops.
A Harbour freight $65 metal brake is not going to bend 16 gauge for sure and probably not 18.

Where are you?
A location is required for your question because on small orders the shipping is going kill you.

Home depot. You don't need 16 or 18 gauge. That's way overkill for adding a few inches to the belly pan. 22 gauge is plenty.
