Ferdinand Design Error Electrical - Clock Circuit?

Ferdinand, Say it ain’t so? Design error?
How many clocks have gone bye bye….. no way to know.

So the Clock circuit is a “hot at all times” circuit. OK fine. But guess what else is downstream on that same “hot at all times” circuit? The Ceiling Light(s) in the cockpit, the Glove Compartment light, and the Luggage Compartment light – up front. These three devices all have a Ground side that is NO and closed vs some switch. Also OK fine.

But……in the Luggage Compartment (FRUNK) up in the right side back corner under the light behind the hinge and under the strut and under some carpet is a SPADE connector for that light “hot at all times” BLK/WHT circuit. And guess what, the MALE end of the spade connector is HOT and the receptor end of the spade connector is COLD. Bad Bad Bad.

You go fussing in that corner for whatever reason and disconnect that spade connector on purpose or by accident and the MALE end (the HOT at All Times end) contacts any interior metal…guess what fuse blows? The #18 interior lights clock circuit fuse immediately blows! And your clock stops, and your ceiling lights etc. Is your clock OK after that circuit short? Sometimes….

A spade connector on a “Hot at All Times” circuit must never be installed with MALE end on the Hot side! Bad bad bad. Receptors go to the hot side. Better tape it up fast as soon as you disconnect… good luck…

Say it ain’t so Ferdinand?
