Rear trailing arm mount
Does anyone know the correct angle that the torsion bar trailing arm bracket it mounted?
I found that on a VW it’s 15 degrees. |

I may have phrased the question poorly.
The mounts welded onto the torsion tube in the rear that the two banana trailing arms bolt to. Each arm is bolted with a single bolt. These are the arms that have the hub and wheel mounted to (and the trailing arm/spring plate) I am hoping to find an answer to the angle that the brackets are welded on to the torsion tube. |

My guess would be 0*. Turbo’s with the short trailing arms says the torsion tube is rotated up 1* I think, not at my manuals now. The pickup points are longer by 50mm as the arms are shorter, so complete different parts there. Non Turbo= Bolt centerline same as torsion tube centerline, 0 degrees.

I think he’s talking about the angle in plan-view.
So at what angle the trailing arm pickup point is mount rearward compared to the sprinplate pivot centerline. From memory, it’s in the 12 degree range for 911. Probably in the 16-18 degree range for RSR/930, but that’s just a guess. |

I’m wondering (and planning) to setup the trailing arm on a table to jig this out and find out.
I assumed it would be in a shop manual somewhere but all I found was (I don’t have shop manuals) a picture of how to check that the mounts are not bent. |
