CSV and TTS testing

Having trouble starting my car, a 82SC. After getting a rebuilt WUR from Tony ( sent me the wrong one the first time) Anyway.
The car starts but just shuts off so I'm not getting any chance to put a timing light or anything to see what's going on.
I wanted to check the CSV and the Thermal time switch. According to the Bentley service manual it states to unplug the CDI and crank the engine, would this be correct or will it just do nothing?
Don't know how to proceed. Any ideas or thoughts.
Thanks.

The best test is to remove the csv and watch it spray while someone cranks. It should spray for about 2 seconds (even if you keep cranking). It’s a pain to get to though. You could also test the tts and csv individually without removing. Put a test light or led in series with the switch and it should only power up for about 2 seconds while you crank. After the 2 seconds the tts has heated up and the contacts in the switch have moved. To test the csv you can hook up your f/p gauge and watch control pressure as you send 12v to the valve. Every time you send it power the f/p will drop as the valve opens.
Like I said best to just pull the thing out and watch it spray

It's harder to remove the CSV and test it because it has a metal line. The Bentley manual says to unplug the CDI before testing. How would I put a test light in series and which switch, CSV or TTS?

Zuffen,

Where did you get this information? The control pressure will not be affected by the CSV operation. You could try it all day long and the control pressure will not show any pressure drop. BTW, the CSV gets fuel directly from the FP delivery line at system pressure.

So last night after reading your post, I went down my basement and tested a CSV to verify your information. And repeated the test several times. The control pressure is not affected at all contrary to your information.

Tony
