Lit Show week, 89 Cabriolet on TURO

Hey Icarp here .

I have decided to put the Red 1989 Carrera Cab G50 5spd up on Turo for Lit week.

4 day min please , car has 90k on it , runs like a dream . Let me know what you think.

The car is in Huntington Beach Ca, we can meet you at the airport .

Well, I am sad to say the Cabriolet Is no longer with us . The exact day that I posted the car for the Lit show , the car was hired for a one day rental. We had agreed to a 100 mile total for the day .
104 miles later bored in a parking lot waiting for someone , our brilliant renter , decided to do doughnuts , 60-70mph doughnuts . As is in many cases, his ability to manage the car at this speed
diminished . He ran into an island curb , about 10" tall , with just the left side . He is lucky he did not roll the car as he was on two wheels for a bit . Short story the car is totaled . Bent sideways about an inch. That is a lot of energy to get that done . Now we are out one fantastic 911 cab and our rental car.
Do we quit the rental car idea? Do we find another car and try again? What kind of rules do we set forth? The rules that would work would scare renters away .
No one wants to be responsible for their own actions .

Please any ideas are welcome , we thought we could provide a fantastic venue, to have rental cars that would be great fun to drive in SoCal.

Good idea to never put any details in a public forum. Hopefully, their insurance is as good as they say it is.
Sounds like a 25yo with no personal liability stunt. No surefire way to regulate stupidity.

Sad story, sorry to hear it happened to you. Beat it like a red headed step child.

In my corporate travel days I was always amazed at how seemingly responsible, mild mannered guys would become instant crazed maniacs in a rental car. Then add happy hour while on the road. Smashing, jumping, neutral drop burnouts, off roading sedans, etc, etc. The stories, man.....

Awe man that is terrible. So so sorry. We were down fromToronto for the weekend and wanted to rent that exact car, but we had 3 guys. It’s the Cab version of mine.

I really feel gut wrenched for you as I have a 964 in a private club as a rental. My worst nightmare.
