Broken tabs on rear sway bar mount
Brought my car up because occasionally hear a faint clunk in the suspension and last time this happened it was a loose sway bar bolt. Sway bar bolts aren’t loose but I did find that the little tabs on the inside of my sway bar mount seem to have separated. The other side isn’t like this - and I have a mig welder - so I can probably make short work of this - just wanted to see if this was a common issue.

Not common on an 86, but more on the older chassis.

Elephant racing makes an upgraded mount. Might be worth welding in “while you are in there”

That said - I’ve been reading where those solid mounts put more strain on the chassis. Nice thing about the non solid mounts is that they have a little flex to them which - for a street car - seems like the right move. I would feel better about those solid mounts if they were engineered with a little more surface area to weld to the chassis to spread out the load. |
My 88 Coupe were broken upon receiving the car. Grab the welder and fixed the issue.
