PPI in NYC
I have had a customer in the area contact me about a 71 911S Targa for sale in NYC. He looked at the car and was spooked because it was converted to a 915 trans. I told him not to reject the car just because of that. He needs someone with early 911 experiance to look the car over.
Does anyone know of a honest shop with knowledgeable techs? The name Rick Demag came up, but I don't have a contact # for him. Any ideas? Again, I am looking for someone in the greater NYC area. |

Don't know Rick Demag, but just 20 minutes North of Manhattan is PAR Porsche; I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.
I've purchased 2 Porsche 911's from them over the past 4 years and had them perform the routine maintenance and numerous upgrades on each of them. PAR Porsche 310 Main Street New Rochelle, New York 10801 914.637.8800

Wow Dennis, that's hard. But I agree with you that it's never a good idea to have a shop do a PPI that's in the biz of buying and selling cars itself. That's not Capitalism 101. It's more like "conflict of interest".
It's always better to go to a shop that is interested only in getting paid for the inspection. Some shops will even walk you thru the car while they inspect it for you up on the lift. Then you can see for yourself what's rusty and what's fluid. Good luck. |

PAR Porsche has an impeccable reputation. They neither buy nor sell, but rather serve as a consignment shop by which the true owners of the fine Porsches on display may have a reputably established business show them under one roof. People take Porsches there all the time for PPI's. PAR Porsche is known for being a straight-shooter: if your car is good, they'll tell you, if it's not, they'll tell you what's wrong with it. No smoke & mirrors here.
Mr. Hartigan's childishly petulant comments are defamatory in nature and libelous, and should be disregarded. He clearly knows NOT of what he speaks.

"Rick Demag" is actually Rick Deman, in Nyack. Racer, independent shop, excellent rep.

Well, if you don't mind the trip, PowerTech in rockaway NJ, when i was there anyway, used to do ppi's all the time with good success at predicting future outcome. Plus keith is awesome with older Porches, i recommend them.
