I've positioned my rennline mont so that the magnet's at the 2'oclock position (facing up and to the right), in this position, my phone's nowhere near my steering wheel or shifter.

Same. So far, I hate it, but I am going to keep trying it to see if I can get some muscle memory to work around it.

i ended up using a rennline mount, but instead of the magnet attachment, i had a samsung suction mount that grabs the phone, i took the magnet mount off of the rennline and attached that grab holder. now i dont have to worry about the magnet not holding. i also ran a cable to it so i can charge and listen to my phone on through the car.

yeah plus one, I have in the standard position and it's so bad I've stopped using it, haven't gotten around to taking it out. The car is in a Car Capsule for the winter right now so I can't check to see if I can rotate but mines here, and this sucks (Image not of my car, found it on the web)

Yours looks weird. Mine is down at like 4 o'clock and there's tons of room? It's nowhere near the wheel or shifter.

Happy to do so, but away from my Carrera for the next week. FWIW, the photos that jrwilson and gremlin posted both appear to show their rennline mounts fitted so the magnet is at the 4'oclock position -- mine's positioned/rotated so that the magnet sits directly out from the minute hand in gremlin's post, which allows my phone to sit a fair bit higher up and closer to my field of vision than gremlin's phone is in the picture.

Porsche was so ahead of their time they have a smart-phone holder built right into all the '74 thru late 80s cars: the ash tray ! I just open the ash tray and put the iphone horizontally in - the ashtray holds the phone to the lower-dash .. it works okay actually. For a more 'heads-up' display nothing beast a windshield-mounted suction-cup deal, the better ones work fine, I use that method on the Miata...

I've had zero interference issues with my Rennline clock mount cellphone holder. That's with an extended hub 380mm steering wheel, stock height G50 shift lever and a large phone (S22 Ultra). I have two cases; 1) an everyday silicon case that I'll sandwich a loose rectangular metal plate between the phone and the inner case and 2) a travel hard plastic case with a round metal plate adhered to the outside of the case. I can place the silicon version higher on the mount and it will occasionally shift on the mount after a reasonably hard impact. The plastic case with the external metal plate doesn't move, in fact, I can rotate the phone 90 degrees to landscape and it still stays put.

Mob Armor makes a magnetic holder that works well if you have metal or thinly covered metal to attach to, like the longhood A-pillar. One version has a magnetic mount also on the phone side for your case -- unless you use wireless charging.
A second version has a cradle for the phone. The base magnet is very strong, but you have to find the right spot for mounting. I haven't had it on many drives yet, but figured it's worth trying. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08Y616KWX ![]() https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BINVA88

Got it today,
Looks well made. A bit of a design flaw in that they provide an Alan key that only fits one of two screws. Why not make it with the same size screws for both? Hopefully I have the right size key to tighten the nut that attaches it to the clock. Edit. I installed it. Fits well and holds the phone solid. You need a weird hex or star wrench to tighten it around the clock. Why would they not provide this or make the screw the same size as the other one? I had the right size tool but I bet most would not as its very unusual. Chris Last edited by cmcfaul; 03-21-2023 at 06:11 AM.. |

My Rennline works great. I did have to wrap the gauge with tape to make the gasket fit tight. That was the only issue, now resolved.
I have a question for others, has anyone found a phone cradle, to replace the magnet that fits on the Rennline ball for an iPhone 14?

Rennline update: So, I added a metal backing plate to the bottom of my phone and tried that this weekend. This works MUCH better and I didn't have any hand collisions with this location. It did require some infrequent adjustment as the bumps would cause it to twist a bit. I can deal with that.
