SEM Color Coat - carpets

I have black carpets in my SC that have faded a little. I wanted to find out if anyone had experience with SEM Color Coat on carpets. I’d rather not pull carpet up to do the whole dye/rinse process. This is for a track car and not for show quality. Just breathing a little fresh life into my horse.

I’ve used SEM on carpet and works great. You’ll probably need more coats than you think to get the coverage and the carpet will be a lil stiff at first but should freshen it up just fine.

Here's a recent thread which includes SEM: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1126971-zoidberg-my-1978-911sc-5.html#post11921453

Thank you both. Zen- how did you prep the carpets? Just vac and spray or did you go more in depth?

Will

Hey Will,
Vac and spray is pretty much all I’ve ever done on carpet. Leather/vinyl is a different story lol.
Be sure to mask off areas for overspray, I use a cardboard shield for larger areas, and your good to go.

Perfect. Thanks for the insights.

The quoted thread was mine. I used a dedicated carpet cleaner vacuum that sprays a hot cleaning fluid which I massaged into the carpet, then run the vacuum along. Cleans it up great.

I found I didn't have to do many passes to get the colour back but mine is redish, maybe black takes more. It's a bit stiff at first but if you work it with your hand it loosens up quite a bit.

Highly recommended!

It worked great! Thanks again.
