Who sells internal parts for the old black key head?

Does anyone sell the internal parts for the original black lit key fob?

My car is an 84 911 Targa.

I know I can get the bulb, but need the other parts as well.

I gave up on trying to find the internals for my '84 key head. Ordered blanks from our host, had them cut and then attached the new style head with mini flashlight (see below). Couldn't be happier.

You can just get a blank key and have it cut to work is your old key is not real worn. I carry the old 914 style key with no light as the one with the light is to big for be comfortable in my pocket.

You can order a brand new key with the light from your dealer if the locks are all original. Just bring the title, and VIN of the your car to a dealership, and they order it and it arrives in a few days. Brand new, with sharp edges on the key.

I have carried the old non lighted key style key since 1974 in my pocket. The key itself wears out in after a dozen years or so. When I have to wiggle the key to get it to work in door locks or the glove box, it is time to replace it.

I store a brand new key in a safe place, and use it as a master for a new key.

Eflight,
I did exactly what Isby did for my 84 Targa. Have the same key fob as well but with red leather. New holder/bulb works perfectly all the time. Totally suggest you do the same.

BTW… if your key works fine… you can use it on the new holder… instead of having a new key cut from the blank.

Regards,
JT

Is there an easy way to get the key out of the old black plastic holder or do you have to sacrifice the original holder?

I did this quite a while ago, but I seem to remember sacrificing the old key head and then discovering that the old key did not fit the new style head. I think that's the reason I got the blanks. Disclaimer: My long term memory is not what it used to be.
