The collectors certainly are not all that great. What kind of 3.4L engine is this? Street? Track? Race? 1 3/4" may be a bit large...
William Knight sells, or used to sell, a very nicely made but still relatively inexpensive header from China that was a pretty good copy of the S-Car-Go headers. They have a really nice collector design and come in 1 5/8" and 1 3/4" sizes. You can email William here: knightrace@mac.com

Vertex auto headers have received positive reviews from some users for their quality and ease of use in creating custom headers for cars.

Thank you all.
Scott, it is for track use. I am rebuilding the engine now. So maybe i will put in 964 camshafts. And i hear people are using 1 3/4", on tuned 3.0. |

Do it once and do it right talk to William Knight about his headers and new muffler.

…and that would be a mistake unless that “tuned” 3.0L was putting out more than 330 HP.

I'm not certain, but I think those vertex headers are the same ones that a bunch of vendors also sell on ebay. Made in china, and work better than stock, but I've never had a set that fit nicely. They need to be wrestled just to get them to go over the exhaust studs and then aligning up to your muffer is also a chore..
They "work" but there are downsides. The 1.75 will probably work if you are making a decent amount of power but if it's a conservative build, you might find the 1&5/8 to be much more torquey down low. Last year I built a 3.2 out to 3.5... it used stock 3.2 heads and ports and valves, but had a 3.6 crank and 98mm pistons. Cam was 993SS as intake was stock Carrera. We used 1.75 headers and a custom muffler and performance was "sprightly" ![]()

I think I watched a video of you driving that Mike... big fan! I also just found you talking on a Dr J thread as I try to figure out my EFI build. Thanks for sharing the process!
