? About my wheels
I am going to do my first autox in about 3 wks. Am I ok with these aftermarket wheels? The do have spacers in them. The rear wheel spacers are the ones that have the stud all the way through them. The fronts are the "bolt on" type. The rears are close to 10 in in width and the fronts around 8.
Also, I may just want to sell these and get some Fuchs. How much are they worth? Thanks! ![]()

Pretty twists, unfortunately, i doubt they're real which means that they are probably to damn heavy. Replica twists are casted, not forged (all that i know of anyway), and aren't hollow spoked which makes them hella heavy. But with the money you could sell those for, i'd try to get my hands on some 17 inch forged fuches. Although i'm one of the few that think fuches with body colored centers and polished rims are outstandingly beautiful.

Besides the weight issue (solid vs. hollow-spoke), I've heard that the chroming process can actually weaken the wheel, inducing microscopic fractures highly susceptible to the intense lateral forces incited by the pressures of an autocross event.

You will be fine. I run 30 year old cast cookie cutters at auto-X's. Almost all of Porsches wheels after the Fuchs are cast. Porsche also makes a "turbo look" twist that has solid spokes. Casting technology has come along way since my cookie cutters were born and they didn't explode on me! Go have fun. Not to worry. ( My opinion will be in the minority)

Fuchs were never made in 17". A few (Jack most notably) have custom 17s with real Fuchs centers. HRE makes a three-piece with a fuchs center also.
For AX I would try to get some basic 6s and 7s, maybe 7s and 8s or 9s if you have the budget. Actually, if you were going to get dedicated autocross wheels, I'd even consider 15s with some kind of low profile tire, to raise the effective gear ratio (numerical), giving you more launch out of low-speed corners without having to downshift to 1st gear. I AXed a bunch with my '88 on 7's and 9's with Yokohamas, drove to and from the event with them, a great, aesthetically sound solution! Good luck at your first autocross. .. once you cross over you can never return. . .

Thanks for the input guys. I don't know anything about the wheels. They were on the car when I bought them. If I can find a good deal on some fuchs then I just may sell these.
