Secret kill switch for a SC.
 

There have been a lot of vehicle thefts around here recently and I don't want them getting my car.

I'm thinking of a kill switch. Something I switch off when I park the car for the night. I don't want to pull the relay out each time. I was thinking of a low voltage switch that stopped the current going to the relay (that works the fuel pump). If that is low current.

I want to keep it simple, uncomplicated, so I won't get a car alarm installed that has a vehicle immobiliser as I feel that's introducing points of failure.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Ground the FP’s 85 contact wire with a switch somewhere.
It will crank and maybe start for a second or two, but won’t run.
Easy to tie in to that circuit if a U.S. model with an electronic rev limiter behind the dash gauges.
Access for ROW cars is where the through body harness FP wiring connects to the FO harness by the front fuse panel.

We had a work truck once where you had to signal right for it to start. Pretty clever and worked well. Not sure how they wired it

I want to install one using a Bluetooth relay. No exposed switch.

I had a work truck once where I had to push in the cigarette lighter to complete the circuit for the engine to start. Clever. Simple. Hidden in plain sight.

guys ,just be careful the word "secret" would not help..I suggest in MP details how to go about it...

Mine was a wire to the fuel pump to a switch I put in the smugglers box and then accessed the switch on the inside of the car. You have to lean down under the dash to see the switch.

Alarms and ignition disablers are nice, feel-good devices to have to try and thwart the incidental, joyride seeking auto thief. Unfortunately there are these type of shoppers to worry about day or night ….

To explain how my 911 Lockshield works.If someone would like to take your 911 they use slide hammer or similar tool to remove the ignition tumbler.With 911 lockshield over the ignition switch this is not possible.So, if the car is hotwired the thief cannot drive it or stear it...

Thanks guys. So the wire that goes to 85 on the relay needs to be cut then the two ends joined to wires that go to the dash (and using Speedster911 suggestion - thanks) and use an unwanted switch such as the headlamp washer?

A friend has a 1960 Citroen that got broken into then hot wired. He was surprised they wanted the car and doubly surprised they new how to hotwire it :(

123 distributor has a Bluetooth lockout. Need to connect your phone with PIN to unlock.

The fog light switch on my dash actually controls my starter. My car won't crank unless the switch is pulled out. I have another hidden switch for the fuel pump. My car is garaged at the end of a 200 ft. driveway.

Not parking your car in a visible area on a regular basis is probably the best deterrent. Car covers also help. Luckily I had a gated lot to use at work.

If a thief knows of your cars location and wants it bad enough, you have a real problem.

I'm buying a small (very small) commercial unit amongst 50 something others. A mixture of people will have access to the area. Car thieves around here tend to be 14 to 18 year old boys stealing cars to ram raid shops or to play racing car drivers. So not too smart but very opportunistic. So I just want an extra level of security and making it so the car isn't driveable.

If you upgrade to a 123 ignition you can disable via bluetooth. The distributor looks stockish and is subtle and lets your change ignition curves too.

I would try a bluetooth + switched (if you want a hidden switch) 12volt relay or try an RFID kill switch.

There are loads of them on Amazon. This RFID one looks interesting and simple...just have to put it somewhere it can't be bypassed.
