930 Clutch Throw Out Lever / Helper Spring Issue
All,
Two weeks ago I dropped the motor and transmission of my 1972 911 to take care of a few things. Last weekend I got the motor and transmission back in but had some issues with getting the car into reverse. I adjusted the shift linkage inside the car and was able to get into reverse, but only with the vehicle off. I still have some adjusting to do with regards to the clutch obviously as the transmission grinds if I try to go into reverse with the engine running. In the process of troubleshooting I decided to see if I could install the clutch helper spring that I ordered a couple weeks ago which was never installed on my vehicle when I purchased it four years ago. Unfortunately it looks like my throw out lever is missing a piece - Can anyone identify what that piece is so that I can get the spring installed to hopefully assist with the stiff, incredibly long clutch peddle throw? Proper 1986 930 clutch throw out lever with helper spring. ![]() Mine. ![]() As you can see, I'm missing some sort of attachment to the lever which appears to bolt in. Any idea what part number that is? I've been searching all day and no luck. ![]() Thank you for any assistance.

Missing peice
Sounds like you're describing piece #17, #18, and #19? It might be for a 930 transmission so double check before ordering. Not sure if they're the same.

Thank you for the help! It is definitely 17, 18, and 19 as I have the 930.36 transmission.

Looking at that helper spring complexity makes me glad I have the earlier straight cable-to-arm linkage. You might consider backdating to that setup.

Ordered 14 two weeks ago and it’s sitting in my garage. 17 is out of stock and won’t be delivered for four to six weeks.
Wild that it’s over $300 for two small metal parts.

I had the morning off and was determined to at least get the car to where she was before I pulled the motor and put it back in - Was having a hard time getting the clutch to disengage when I pressed the pedal. A couple of questions:
1) Does anyone know if this amount of pull for the clutch is acceptable? I'm pushing the pedal all the way to the floor. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JWKJDPWC4ko The clutch adjustment is to the max extent, if I move it the opposite direction the pedal begins to fall to the floor. 2) It has always been like this, so I didn't question it - But does anyone know if the clutch pedal is typically further back than the brake and gas pedal? ![]() 3) My car has obviously been heavily modified, but has anyone else seen a shifter where there was no bushing inside the housing attached to the base of the shifter? ![]() ![]() I'm able to adjust the shift linkage and get into all the gears, unfortunately I'm not able to disengage the clutch with the pedal it seems. I've been pouring over threads on here and rennlist and haven't come across a likely culprit. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears!

Any chance I can remove the clutch arm from the splines, and put it on one spline closer which might allow the clutch to disengage?
