Wire harness plug instalation trouble

I purchased new tail light assemblies but getting the plug back into the body has been impossible

Put liquid or jelly silicone on the tapered end and push like hell (but try not to get any on the electrical contacts). The connector body there should be a stiff rubber (it was originally). Good luck if it's now plastic...

Isopropyl alcohol works great as a lubricant for installing rubber plugs, grommets, etc.

+1 for glycerine

Porsche even put a bottle of this stuff in 356s. Great to keep rubber supple and as a lube. Evaporates fairly quickly.

I used dish soap and a pick to install mine. I lost some skin doing it though.

warm it up with a heat gun, dab of dish soap...works every time.

anyone have the male end of this plug, inside the rear compartment, showing the wires? need to see the order of the colors.

The female side housing fell apart now I have loose wires not knowing what order to put them back into the male side

The wires other side right side of the car are not visible in its housing..so I can compare
