Will be a great loss. I have lost count of the number of hours I have spend on the phone with Steve over the last 20 years. Great person, true gentleman and legend in the community. Wishing him and his family all the best.

Cheers

I had the pleasure of meeting Steve at Laguna Seca/Monterey Porsche Reunion. Super good guy. Not to mention one heck of a good engine builder and much more.

Sad news. I talked with Steve early in my Porsche journey and that conversation set me on a straight path to rebuild success. I wish him and his family the best.

Steve helped so many time as I rebuilt my engine, such a calming poster on some of the threads that got a bit heated and ended being right. Endless suspension advice which has helped me select what I am doing now. Hope he goes as painlessly as he can. I am not that far behind him. He will be greatly missed.I wish I could have met him in person. Much compassion for his family, cancer is hard on all of them. Painless travels Steve.:(

Cancer odds use to be 1 out of 20, now it’s 1 out of 3. Auto immune diseases are through the roof.
Dont know Steve but I wish him well.

ouch.

Man, that hurts. He is such a fountain of information. (He is on my "5 people I don't question any of their information" list.) He has endlessly helped so many people in our community.
He will leave a hole.

Prayers going up.

I probably started interacting with Steve on line in the mid-90's-- maybe Porsche fans or Porschelist or even before that.

Always trying to help others.

Loves the cars and the people.

I finally got to meet him at RR-- I took the picture in post #7 of Steve and two brothers. It is one of the best Porsche-related pictures I have ever taken because I captured all three to whom so many owe so much. I think I posted it on a RR thread somewhere in this forum.

We are now far into our world of connectedness and have had some really profound global experiences (e.g., the recent pandemic). The pace of challenges and opportunities created and enabled by the tech has been shown to be exponential, and the species has never had to deal with change at such a rapid pace.

I think of that when I think of that picture and the people in it like Steve. Humans helping other humans with common interests and passions that connected via the tech.

So thoughts and prayers for Steve and family and friends.

And my gratitude to Steve for crossing my path (mostly via the web) and making my personal experience with life better.

Oh no. I've got a trove of posts and emails from Steve from 25 years ago. He made up a set of Magnacore plug wires for me. I never had a chance to meet him. He's everything others here have said about him.

Godspeed, Steve!

Cloggie 04-28-2023 10:56 AM

He was a great guy, did my heads and other work,

As others have said, Godspeed Steve, may you now be in a place where the Porsche's are all beautiful air-cooled wonders that you spent so much of your time on.

Condolences to his family and loved ones

D.

Steve was one of a kind, I will never forget him and how helpful he has always been. I tried to follow his lead in running my business - "What would Steve do?".

skinnerd 04-28-2023 11:42 AM

Will miss Steve and all he brought to this world.

Every once in a while you get to meet someone who you just instantly take a liking to.
Steve was that person, and I believe he felt that way about 'most everyone he met.
RIP, my friend. You were a good man.
I'll miss your stories and and the exotic parts and pieces you would bring to the burger-and-brew events for "show and tell".
