Porsche Classic Manufacturing New 68-76 Mag Cases

Looks like they're making new cases for 2.0-2.7 engines. Costing through delaerships, can only imagine the tax on these...

Personally I need 2.0 aluminum to continue my vintage racing.

I have some spare cases but you don't know their exact condition until you are in the machine shop rebuilding your engine

Brand new cases are brand new, flawless, no stories

They'll be expensive, but so is sourcing a core and machining an original case.

Investment casting technology has advanced significantly in the last fifty years. I suspect these new ones will be an upgrade over castings poured in the 70s.

Porsche management is very smart, they are looking well into the future and realizing that soon they may be forced to sell mostly electric vehicles which inevitably will not have the same soul/personality and driving experience as an ICE Porsche. So they have this huge following for their older cars which spans multiple current generations so why not create a business model around it. Supply all of the parts needed to keep them on the road indefinitely. As technology improves it should continue to get easier to recreate the parts at lower cars and more reliably.

Will be interesting to see if they release 3.6 casings as there’s lots of demand for that in the hot rod world.

If they released the 7R case in aluminum they would sell 10 times as many.......

Thank god for that last sentence in the ad. Now I can decide whether or not I want to buy one.

My PO had the original 2.7 magnesium case replaced by dealer, I just don’t know when the thermal reactor catastrophic failure occurred…before or after the 1 yr warranty back in 1977.
Without the T/R’s, quite reliable for +200,000 so far, if I were going to replace with another 2.7, there are plenty of orphans collecting dust for a lot cheaper.

I reached out to my local Porsche dealership and was told 16,000 CND (around 12,000 USD) for a new 2.7 RS spec case. Yikes!

This is why I dumped BMW... They stopped making all the parts for my 1988 M3. And I have no regrets switching to Porsche. Glad to be a fan.

“For the past two years, aluminum crankcases have been available again for larger-engine 911 models from the 1990s.”

Umm… what?
