Where to find Alternator Parts?
My voltage light is coming on after starting. It’s bright at idle and dims as the RPM increases. My 911 is still externally voltage regulated.
I would like to rebuild the alternator but I cannot find the parts anywhere. I have reached to Maniac in Dallas and haven’t heard a peep back from them. You old school guys where are getting the brushes, diodes and bearings from? I prefer to fix my own stuff. That seems to be getting harder and harder to do. I searched our host and this forum but no luck. |

Do a local search. The shops are still out there, but you need to find em.

You are so right. With the labor much lower in Mexico and other countries, marginal overhauled alternators and starters are what are sold. My wife worked at a shop that overhauled starters, magnetos, generators, alternators, on aircraft, tractors, oilfield engine, big rig tractors, and some automobile stuff. The owner sold the business to an employee who started buying and selling junk. ???
