Central Locking - Owners Manual

My driver side door lock was acting up so I dove into the remove the door card PITA to have a look. Fortunately I saw right away the power arm with the plastic ball was away from the locking mechanism. The plastic was badly buggered. While seated in the car with the door open I attempted to move the locking mechanism. I couldn’t.

I was at a stopping point so I retired for the day. I did my usual door issue thread search and found a useful comment “the driver side door will not lock when door is open”. It’s in the Owner’s Manual and meant to halo us not lock ourselves out of the car. Ahaaaa, didn’t know that one!

Sometimes it does help to read the Owner’s Manual. Some useful info about the central locking system. I wonder if I may have damaged the plastic ball socket by trying to use the locking system with the door open. Hmmmm.
