Decoding VIN and Production Numbers
I have read the forums on decoding VIN and production numbers. As stated they may or may not match. However should the model numbers match on both. The forth number on my VIN is four indicating 1974 but the third production number is 0 which I assume means 1970. This car was delivered to Japan and later imported to Australia for road use.
Hope someone can clarify Cheers Kevin |

For Porsche to get an accurate VIN decode you need the following:
You can also use services like the NHTSA Product Information Portal: NHTSA Product Information Catalog and Vehicle Listing My dev team uses this extensively to cross-reference vehicle specs from our inventory suppliers. Information outside of the US is limited, though.

Kevin, PM me with the numbers you have, and I will try and sort it out. I have done a fair study of production numbers, so it should be straightforward.
