Center Cap Drama?
Maybe too trivial but 35 year old cars have unique issues.
When getting new tires last week, the tire tech pointed out that one of my wheel center caps was falling apart 125k miles/37 years of bouncing down the road have widened the holes around the stakes that hold the two parts together. Loose to the point that an unlucky bounce could lose the crest forever. My current solution is a few drops of Loctite Super glue gel which seems to stabilize the crest. Did another wheel when I discovered I could wiggle the cap. Check yours? |

First day I had mine i immediately went for new tires and a crest fell off. Went back and found it and jb welded it. Held 16 years but last year replaced all with plain one piece caps. The older ones had changed from black to purple and I never really liked the fancy crest look

This exact thing happened to me - the tire shop let me look around the floor, and I even drove slowly home along the same route and looked along the road side, never found it. To my surprise, when i bought a new one, the tire shop reimbursed me for that cost.
