I’ve recently purchased an 88 930 Cabriolet. I’m hearing different opinions on lowering the top. Do you always need to unzip the rear window before lowering the top? Or only un zip when its cold according the owners manual. Does it help it prolong the life of the top and rear window by always unzipping the window? Or does it not make a differance?
Thanks

There was recently another post on this topic - do a search - the result seemed about 50/50, half do - the rest dont bother.

'83-'85 style tops have to unzip or it will eventually ruin the window.
On '86 and later, the mechanism was changed so that it wasn't necessary. However it's better for the top to unzip the window on all models, but it's up to you if it's worth the hassle. Me? I do it when I can, but I don't obsses about it.

I agree, I do it when I can. I am more worried about those pointy things poking holes in the roof, I need to replace those elastic bands....
