squareweave carpet needs
I'm looking for a replacement squareweave carpet set for a SC and am finding prices in excess of 1500.00.
Way outside of my budget, but I do love the look. I figure I will cut and bind my own, using my existing interior as patterns. It is a long winter here in the northeast and this will keep me busy. Anyone have a ballpark in yards needed to pull this off? The roll is about 72" wide. At $120.00/yard I figure I can screw this up a couple times and still come out ahead. |

If it cost $600 for just the materials, $1k or less isn’t very realistic. Good carpet should last for years. If having a custom carpet set made with that material is important to you, I would concentrate on the quality of work from the provider over the final price. What’s that quote - quality is remembered long after price is forgotten.
And I do get it. I saw a square weave carpet set in a swb car and now I want it for my 67. Even though it’s expensive and more work to install I think I’d be dissatisfied with the normal carpet kit.

I love the look of squareweave but apparently it's very difficult to work with/install. Then again, any carpeting can be a pain to install so who knows if it's actually worse?

My guys have done a couple installs. It’s very stiff. They use a heat gun and beat it into submission with a rubber mallet. Looks great once fitted.
