SoK Paxton supercharger on 3.2 - how to remove?

I'm planning to look at an '87 Carrera that has what appears to be a SoK Paxton supercharger on it. If I bought it, I think I'd want to pull the supe off (in part to make the car more wife-friendly, and I doubt I really NEED the extra power.) Any idea what mods I'd have un-do?

Should be nothing more than removing the sc and associated plumbing from the car. You then will need the stock plumbing for the original air box.

Probably the least expensive way is to find someone near you that wants the supercharger and have them give you some $$$ so you can trade parts.

My wife drove the SC viper I had for two years, once in a while, so if it's a very good setup I would leave it on. But, if you are planning on taking it off, might as find one that does not have one because god only knows how much the previous owner beat on it.

Agreed. This car is a bit low on my list because of this. Although, the seller is motivated, and the car looks like it'd be pretty affordable for a G50 car. Still looking at it because of that.

An SOK supercharged 911 is a rare thing. If you take the supercharger kit off, you can get a few grand for it. However, my advice whenever I hear of someone who wants to do this is to ask them to drive a similar car without the supercharger and see if you like it. After supercharging myself, I don't know if I could go back. If it has the G50, that's perfect for the extra power. If it's already dialed in, it should be a lot of fun.

If you do purchase it and decide to remove it, I can help you with a SOK manual that will help you undo what was done.

I have driven a stock Carrera, and it's fine for my purposes. The extra 130 or so HP might be nice occasionally, but I won't NEED it.

The main thing holding me back is not knowing how hard the car has been driven. I have to assume that if someone wanted the extra power bad enough to drop that kind of money on it, they probably used it.

On the other hand, the seller is having a hard time finding buyers (probably for the same concerns that I have), and is willing to deal. It would be an affordable way to get into a G50 Carrera. I can't see the car in person until Sunday. I was thinking about passing on it, but maybe I'll go take a look.

Depending how much boost he is running, he might have done something to lower the compression ratio...
The advantage of a supercharger compared to a huge turbo is that the SC will come in gradually as it is engine RPM driven while the turbo will come in huge after a lag. The SC should be wife friendly kind of like a 911 with a bigger motor. I would keep it. My wife drives my 930 once in a while and she seems ok.

A properly "done" SC installation would require an intercooler OR lowering of the base/native compression ratio, maybe even both. If the CR was lowered to accomodate the boost level and avoid detonation the engine performance might border on the abysmal without the SC.

Common method, inexpensive method, for lowering the CR was to install 2 head gaskets. Easily reversible.

I'm sure there is a loud muffler set up with your Super Charger. Get a more quiet stockish exhaust for the wife to dumb it down a bit.

Don't pull the SC!!

2 head gaskets, or even a thicker head gas gasket, will increase the volume of the combustion chamber at TDC, thereby often lowering the base/native compression ratio enough to allow the use of boost pressure to bring it back to factory CR, or even beyond with an intercooler.

Otherwise you would have to seriously enrich the mixture beyond the point of producing more HP. The overly enriched mixture would not add much to power but would provide enough overall cooling to allow a significant level of boost pressure without detonation.
