Trailing arm bushing bolts, WEVO EZ Pins

I’m in the middle of a suspension and brake restoration, front is mostly done and rear is in process. I’d like to replace the trailing (banana) arm bushing and blast/paint the arms since these are steel on my 72S. I’m aware I’ll have to cut off the heads of these bolts to remove them without removing the engine/trans but I won’t do that until I’m sure I have a solution for getting a new set in.

My torsion tube has flat areas on the outside of the trailing arm bushing brackets but not dimples like later cars have (as far as it appears to me). WEVO tells me the pins are 66mm in length with a 19mm hex head. I cut a bolt down to 66mm and it’s hard to say if they will make it in from the outside. WEVO says to remove the trans mounting bolts and shift the trans over and install them from the inside. That doesn’t look straight forward or maybe even possible.

I’ve searched and found conflicting answers if what I’m trying to do is possible. Any folks out there that can confidently say one way or another? See pics below.

Well they have to come out to do the work either way! If you refreshed the front you have to do the rear. Take the old out and go from there. You could always grind one side of the head down on the bolt or use an Allen bolt if you don’t want to mess with the tranny.

Well, one option is to just do the spring plate bushings but I’d prefer to get the trailing arms looking good and those bushing replaced. I’m not interested in dropping the engine at this point.

Ed- just to clarify, can you confirm they work with the torsion tube that I show? I assume ‘73+ cars with dimples would be fine.

I’m ordering a set of the WEVO pins and may just go for it. My concern is that folks with the same year cars are reporting very different experiences. Good news I guess is that these bolts will mostly see radial loading and not axial so grinding away some of the head may be OK.

I wish they had these when I did the bushings on my 72. If this works, which I'm guessing they will, what time saver. I had to drop the eng/tranny about 6 inches.
Good luck
