Mystery wiring and switches
Hi everyone,
I have these mystery switches in the driver's door of my 912e. Other than the engine, which is from a 1978 SC, and the minimalist stereo, the car seems relatively unmodified down to the 14" fuchs. ![]() The attached wiring in the door is way longer than it needs to be and includes this solenoid looking thing. ![]() Has anyone seen this before or know what it might be? I haven't traced the wires into the dash yet. The speaker wires are black and red and run separately; the other door is the same, just a single speaker. Obligatory car picture: ![]() Thanks much |

That's a curious find Mixed. Am looking forward to you tracing those wires to their ends.

I have no clue on what the switches and relay do but I am curious what there functions are. I hope you take the time to trace out each wire and draw a schematic of where the wires tie into the cars original wiring.

The small clear covered device looks like a speaker cross-over. Maybe had a coaxial speaker and split the input on the speaker itself.

I looked up the acronyms to help shed some light in the switch panel usage. So according to the web, the abbreviations are: IMP: It's My Party SOC: Space Operations Command TCH: Turbo or Thermal Conduction Heating Last edited by porschedude996; 06-04-2023 at 09:58 AM.. |

Looks like a nice car, I would check all the wiring after looking at that mess.

Is it possible all those were wired to 1 gauge so that the function of the gauge was selected by the toggles?
IMP : Intake Manifold Pressure SOC: State of charge TCH : Tachometer |

The device in your hand is a relay. You can clearly see the coil, contacts, and the clip on top holds the relay to the base.
You might take a deeper look into all the wiring associated with this. It looks dodgy. |

Sorry for no follow up, I didn't see and pelican didn't tell me!
One of the previous owners worked for Raytheon, maybe it's his work. I thought TCH might be tach but the others had me stumped. I will play around more and report back. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk |
